WIC Provides:  Nutritious foods at no cost such as: milk, juice, cheese, dried beans, dried peas, eggs cereal, peanut butter, infant formula, juice and cereal.  (Participants receive coupons for certain foods based on their individual needs which are determined by the WIC program personnel.  Women who are totally breastfeeding will also receive tuna and carrots.  It is a big help to participants to get these foods and be able to spend their money on fresh fruits, vegetables and meats.

WIC services can answer your questions about food and nutrition,  and provide kids' health screenings along with referral sources.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Eligible participants are issued food coupons which can be used at WIC approved stores.  These coupons are for specified foods approved through the WIC program.

Nutrition education classes are provided to participants on a variety of topics including iron-rich foods, shopping on a limited budget, snack foods for children and more.

In addition, participants can be linked to other important resources offered by the health department such as Lamaze, breastfeeding support, immunizations, a diabetes program, developmental screening and more.  Participants can also learn about the help provided by other social services agencies, community agencies, and health care professionals including physicians and dentists.
